Korn sign with Virgin/EMI
Korn deal, Israeli metal
Korn, Betzefer

Korn go Virginal

They may have lost their guitarist to Jesus, but now it's Korn's turn to leave something behind. Recently teaming up with EMI Music, they have ceased their involvement with Sony Music - the record company that has housed them since their early days.

The partnership will benefit both the band and the label, beginning with Korn landing themselves a recording contract with EMI's Virgin Records for their new, yet-to-be-titled album.

The results of the band's overall career will be shared with EMI, including their recording, music publishing, touring, merchandising, sponsorship and any other activities, such as film, TV, book or video game projects.

The unique deal is similar to that of Robbie Williams's with EMI, and both partners seem confident in its success. "I always felt like I was working for a record company," says Korn frontman Jonathon Davis. "Now I feel like we have a true partner. I'm looking forward to this new chapter in our career."

EMI and Virgin are equally pleased with the partnership. Matt Serletic, Chairman and CEO of Virgin Records, had this to say: "KoRn's uncompromising and innovative approach to music has created some of the world's most intense, most memorable sonics, earning the band a deep, lasting and all encompassing bond with their fans. All of us at Virgin are thrilled to embark on a partnership with KoRn, a band that not only defined a genre, but with this incredible new album, moves beyond it."
