Goldfrapp: pop album of the year? Yeah!
Goldfrapp’s ‘Number 1’
Another hit for Alison [and Will]

On Monday 31 October ‘Number 1’ is released; following on from Goldfrapp's No 4 smash hit ‘Ooh La La’ and taken from their Gold album ‘Supernature’, which debuted in the UK charts at No 2. ‘Number 1’ is a pure musical gem, written and produced by Will and Alison - a beautiful sunrise of a song - uplifting, life affirming and full of love.

‘Supernature’ has received an amazing critical reception from the UK press, with the likes of the Observer Music Magazine writing "It will be Alison Goldfrapp's voice on the best electronic album of 2005"; Q commenting “thrilling… ‘Supernature’ sounds brilliantly here and now” and NME calling it “The best pop album of 2005”.

The Guardian said “‘Supernature’ fizzes like spacedust on your tongue… a brash beautiful celebration of love and dancing” , Marie Claire comments “At last, a real talent to treasure. This is what it sounds like to be alive in 2005” and Attitude notes “If Mr Warhol was still with us his favourite pop muse would, without a doubt, be Alison Goldfrapp.”

Europe is also currently falling under Goldfrapp's musical spell, with ‘Ooh La La’ at No 1 in Spain and ‘Supernature’ already Top 40 in Germany, France and other territories. ‘Number 1’ will be available on 2 CDs and DVD single. An amazing package for fans, they will include a very special bonus track ‘Beautiful’, which was due to be part of ‘Supernature’, but remained unattainable until now.

The DVD includes 'Number 1 - Postcards From The Summer' a special montage of exclusive behind the scenes footage from Goldfrapp's superb summer festival appearances , plus an exclusive promo film of 'Satin Chic'. There will also be fantastic remixes of 'Number 1' by Alain Braxe and Fred Falk amongst others to be announced and a remix of ‘Lovely 2 C U’ by German technomesiter T.Raumschmiere

Having been appearing at festivals throughout the summer, Goldfrapp are about to embark on their UK tour throughout October. With their London and Manchester shows already completely sold out, there are a few tickets are available for the remaining dates.

They will also be the first act to launch a series of Podcasts from Mute Records, under the name of Mute Station - Goldfrapp's podcast , named ‘Communique #1’ is all about the Alison and Will and the creation of ‘Supernature’. It will be appearing very soon in the iTunes directory and other online Podcast directories. If you would like to listen to it, you can download it directly from http://www.mutestation.com/.
