Fatboy on Broadway?

Fatboy Slim and former Talking Heads singer David Byrne are writing a musical about former Phillipine first lady Imelda Marcos, it has been claimed.

'Here Lies Love' will examine Mrs Marcos's passion for music and nightclubs, and is billed as "a timeless story with more contemporary resonances than are comfortable."

The musical will premiere at Australia's Adelaide Festival next March, according to reports.

A spokesman for the festival explained that Marcos "loved the nightlife in all parts of the world, and in New York at Studio 54, so much so that she installed a disco in her NYC townhouse."

He added: "It was a non-stop party, featuring politicians, arms dealers, financiers, artists, musicians and the international jet set."

Mrs Marcos was found guilty of corruption in the mid-1990s, but her conviction was overturned on appeal.

The concept of 'Here Lies Love' was devised by Talking Heads star Byrne, and he has written the music for the project with Fatboy Slim, whose real name is Norman Cook.

Director Marianne Weems promises that the musical will be "a multimedia extravaganza".
