Cat Power: magnum dose of minimalism
Live: Cat Power
Shepherds Bush Empire, London

Cat Power: from spellbinding to monotonous minimalism

Cat Power = New York singer/songwriter called Chan Marshall.

Fifth album: ‘You are Free’

Style: minimalism (although Dave Grohl drummed on the current album)

Live craft: stripped down to guitar or piano and two microphones; often performs with her back to the audience or sideways

Verdict: If Mel Gibson is the God’s lethal weapon, Cat People is the Eden’s lo-fi vamp.
