The good, the fun, the review

Jet Johnson’s ‘Donnie’ is a three-track single that offers a glimpse into this trio’s beguiling sonic world. The title cut is a jolly little pop tune with an intriguing rhythm pattern that borders reggae, it is a summery single of a brilliant kind, delivered by a child-like, fragile vocal. The song subject, Donny Osmond, is not everyone’s dope but the song’s quality erases any matter-indifference.

Delicately voiced Caroline Nesbo delivers a folksy and ethereal ‘Cats In Heaven’ while ‘Synd’ is a free-formish exploration into ambience. Yeah, three utterly diverse tracks, atmo, emo, inventive and stylish; alas, it will be mass overlooked in all the hype that is this week’s model. Jet J. are like Alice Wonderland in a sound garden.

Jet Johnson is a London trio of Nesbo, Norwegian lass’ other duty is bass, Gavin Baker on guitar (a member of Billy Mahonie as well) and Kevin Smith on drums. A band worth keeping an ear on; their debut album promises to be a celebration of fusionic style, various elements and fatale blend.
