Ministry's 8th LP: 'Animosititisomina' |
|
Ministry: 'Animosititisomina' (Mayan/Sanctuary)
Ministry’s return to sucking eggs
Dateline 1991: the first Bush-Gulf war with papa George is taking the centre stage on the world’s map of non-stop conflicts; Ministry release 'Psalm 69: The Way To Succeed And The Way To Suck Eggs' to re-define what Heavy Rock/metal/Industrial stand for; in short, the sound of the future.
Dateline 2003: the second Bush-Gulf war, led by son George W., is due to flare up anytime soon; Ministry release ‘Animosititisomina’ (animosity spelt both ways, very-very clever) and it de-defines what Heavy-cum-industrial music has become; in short, the sound of the past.
There are few interesting moments on this, the band’s 8th, album but when the best track Al Jourgensen and Paul Barker can come up with is the cover of ‘The Light Pours Out Of Me’ by the seminal New Wavers, Magazine, then – time to rethink or regroup...
Once in the forefront and now – an industrial wastage.
3/10
