'Bad Boy 2' full of bad doggs & divas
Various: 'Bad Boys II - The Soundtrack '
(Bad Boy )
‘Bad Boys II’, the star-studdest OST

If there were to be a dream rap-team, then The Neptunes/N*E*R*D, Jay-Z, Nelly, 50 Cent, Notorious B.I.G., Snoop Dogg, P.Diddy, Mary J. Blige, Foxy Brown – although missing Eminem, Missy Elliott, Ice Cube – would come near to it… But, add to that Beyoncé, Lenny Kravitz and Justin Timberlake and you have – ‘Bad Boys II – The Soundtrack’.

Diddy as Executive Producer wanted to assemble such a stellar ‘cast’ because it is very important to the man – this is the first release to come out under the new deal he’s signed with UMG. And, the OST to Will Smith and Martin Lawrence starring movie has debuted atop the US charts, ahead of the film's release. Because it drops some heavy… Or, as Snoop Dogg (with Loon) puts it, ‘Gangsta Sh*t’, although far from all being ‘gangsta’.

“I feel extremely blessed to be re-launching Bad Boy with not just another typical soundtrack, but the biggest album of the summer, guaranteed to be the hottest summer release,” CEO & Executive Producer of the soundtrack, Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs, claimed in his usual self-deprecating manner. “I pulled out all the stops and it couldn’t have happened any other way – ‘Bad Boys II’ on Bad Boy!”

So, for the first full album release under the new Bad Boy/Universal umbrella, Combs has convened an unprecedented superstar line-up for the ‘Bad Boys II’ soundtrack, an all-star names on the CD are responsible, cumulatively, for over 200M sales worldwide. All fine and dandy but Justin Timberlake, man, how did this one sneak you by? Exclusive cut or not! At least Diddy avoided having Smith rap, he fancies himself one after several albums behind him...

P.Diddy pairs with Nelly & Murphy Lee of the St. Lunatics on ‘Shake Ya Tailfeather’, that was the first single from the album. Peedee also joins Lenny Kravitz and the Neptunes/N*E*R*D’s Pharrell Williams on ‘Show Me Your Soul’. The ‘Bad Boys II’ soundtrack is the only place fans can find the underground smash hit ‘Realest N*ggas’ featuring 50 Cent & the late great Notorious B.I.G.. The album also has exclusive cut from the divine Beyoncé, ‘Keep Giving Your Love To Me’.

The ‘BB2’ is a fast-paced action-movie and this is its excellent sonic companion. And, as the man says himself, “I know it sounds like a lot… but is a lot.”

8/10
