Pink paints the town sweaty with a show that was more like a party for all

Pink is preparing to embark on her debut headlining tour of America at the beginning of May and came over to road-test it Brit fans… Well, actually she came to play a special ‘thank you’ show for her fans and a number of record company and media bods. And, it was great fun, for all concerned. The lady appeared with a new hairdo and a cropped white top with a fantasy-destroying legend, ‘Don’t Bite Me’.

The party mood was achieved instantly with ‘Get This Party Started’ that brought the house down and everyone was dancing like it were the last mosh in 1999! She pumped some more energy out the ecstatic-to-be-present crowd with a selection of songs from her two albums, the debut ‘Can’t Take Me Home’ and ‘M!ssundaztood’, the highlights being the title track of the current disc and ‘Just Like A Pill’.

But not all is in the domain of perspiration-inducing rhythms and Pink slowed the mood down with poignant and very personal ‘Family Portrait’ and ‘My Vietnam’ before raising our temperatures with the next single ‘Don’t Let Me Get Me’ and then returning us to sweaty-realm with ‘Numb’. Pink, who had Steven Tyler guesting on ‘Misery’ track on her sophomore longplayer, is also covering the Aerosmith’s ‘Janie’s Got A Gun’ on the ‘Party Tour 2002’.

She’d return for a short encore with ‘There You Go’ before bidding us a goodnight and hinting that a full Euro tour could be on the cards in the autumn. Can’t wait, honest guv!

According to Pink she was a plump teen and had to turn to acrobatics to keep her weight down/re-shape herself but hardly any of such exercises find place in the show. Perhaps the stage was too small but, in the end, it didn’t really matter as we walked out feeling dire need for a shower and a fresh set of designer threads.
